GripSafe® ST Hydrostatic Test & Isolation Plugs
Cut plant downtime. GripSafe® ST plugs hydrotest and isolate pipe without welding or cutting end caps. Self-gripping wedges, Gritlock® surfaces, and Tri-Ply® seals hold full test pressure with virtually no marks on the pipe.

Isolation & Hydrostatic Test Plugs
Pipe plugs are classified as pipe fittings because of the job they do inside the piping system. Hydrostatic testing is a critical quality step during construction, maintenance, and repairs that confirms compliance with industry standards and regulations.
"GripSafe plugs have been valuable assets on the LNGC site. The quick and easy installation, use, and removal of the plugs have made testing plain end pipe simple. The Lifting Device makes rigging of the larger plugs into position fast, convenient, and safe. The design of the grippers leave little to no marks inside the pipe. Torque values and plug info on the front plate makes plug identification and double-checking for the right plug usage easy. Overall, the GripSafe plugs are an excellent product."

GripSafe® ST vs. Competitive Gripping Plugs
SCH 80 plugs in ASTM A106 Grade B pipe, pressurized to 3,246 psi (full hydrotest pressure).
Virtually No Surface Damage
Wedge-grip system holds the pipe wall without scarring it, so the pipe can go back into service.
Heavier ID Surface Damage
Serrated jaw grippers bite into the pipe, which can mean rework or temporary piping.
"...the contact of the competitive isolation plugs resulted in heavier ID surface damage than the GripSafe isolation plugs."

Test Plugs vs. Welding End Caps
Plugs deliver faster turnarounds, lower costs, better safety, and more flexibility than welding end caps on pipe spools.
