Uses for Orifice Plates:

Flow Measurement. Orifice plates are utilized for measuring the fluid flow rate within pipelines. By creating a constriction in the flow path, they cause a pressure drop across the plate, which can be correlated with the flow rate using Bernoulli's equation or other flow equations.

Cost-Effectiveness. They are relatively simple and inexpensive compared to other flow measurement devices.

Ease of Installation. Once installed, orifice plates are easily integrated into pipelines and demand minimal maintenance. If needed, they can be swiftly replaced.

Compatibility. Orifice plates can be used with a wide range of fluids including liquids, gases, and steam. They are suitable for various industries such as oil and gas, chemical processing, water treatment, and HVAC.

Standardization. The American Petroleum Institute (API) and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) have established standardized guidelines for orifice plates.

Calibration. Calibration of orifice plates enhances the precision of flow measurement.
